Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean return as mentors to put the pairs through their paces. This year's contenders are Kerry Katona, Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe, Denise Welch, Dominic Cork, TV presenter and model Chloe Madeley, Vanilla Ice, Nadia Sawalha, Elen Rivas, ex-EastEnders actor Sam Attwater, Angela Rippon, Craig McLachlan, Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, ex-Corrie actor Steven Arnold, Jeff Brazier, Radio One DJ 'Comedy Dave' Vitty and children's TV presenter Laura Hamilton. Eight couples perform on today's show, but only six will go through to the main competition. Viewers have the chance to vote for their favourite stars.

Team challenge: In addition to the standard skate, the celebrity skaters split into two teams captained by the two most consistent skaters, Sam and Laura, with every member of the winning team's points being doubled.[13] The teams were Laura and Colin, Jeff and Isabelle and Denise and Matt and they took on Sam and Brianne, Chloe and Michael and Johnson and Jodeyne. The judges eventually crowned Laura's team victorious (Jason & Emma for Team Laura to Robin for Team Sam)
